Lifespan
Respite
Clatsop
Community Action's Lifespan Respite program links individual and family care
givers in
need of respite care providers. CCA serves as the
information and referral service for Lifespan Respite in Clatsop
county. In this capacity CCA helps partner care providers with family
care givers needing respite.
Respite is temporary,
short-term care for children, adults and seniors with special needs, health
care concerns, chronic illness, emotional and behavior disorders, or those
at risk of abuse or neglect. This program provides relief to
individuals and families who give non-paid full time care to a family member
or friend and strengthens the ability of caregivers to continue providing
care in the home.
The program also provides
referral to approved respite
providers. The caregiver can then arrange with a
respite provider to come and care for the relative or friend who needs care.
Lifespan
Respite is not meant to provide full time care for an individual, but is
meant to help provide a caregiver with some time away to go to the doctor,
recreate, do grocery shopping, or take care of other personal
needs.
The family caregiver must pay the respite provider, but the Lifespan
Respite program will reimburse the caregiver up to an amount predetermined
through Northwest Senior and Disability Services.
